How close can you get to danger without it harming you?
A family in Florida owned unique pet—a a Burmese python. Everyone in the house loved the snake. Shaunia, the family’s two-year-old girl, would play with it and kiss it.
This did not sit well with the girl’s grandmother. She offered to buy it from the parents multiple times to get it away from her granddaughter.
Wednesday, July 1, 2009, the 12-foot (3.6-meter) snake escaped from its aquarium, slithered to Shaunia’s bedroom, climbed into the sleeping child’s bed. and strangled her to death. The parents later discovered the snake curled around their little girl and forced it off her motionless body. Shaunia Hare was already dead when paramedics arrived at the home.
For a season, sin can seem harmless and fun. We can convince ourselves that the danger is no longer relevant. When the devil is tempting Christians to sin he almost always uses three convincing arguments. 1. You have very good reasons to do what you are doing. 2. Nobody will ever know what happened. 3. Committing this sin will fulfill and satisfy you. None of these promises ever come true.
Romans 6:23 says, “The reward for sin has not changed. The bible says, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Do you have a “pet python” in your life? Confess it to Jesus Christ today. Get that snake out of your house today.
